Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Ephesians 4:15-16 (ESV)
Biblical Counseling
While beautiful and joy-filled, the journey of life can also be challenging and hard. Grief, fear, anxiety, depression, loneliness, illness, temptations, brokenness in the world, our own sin, and the sins of others produce legitimate suffering and often painful circumstances. Without help, we may find ourselves stuck, lost, unable to move forward, or tempted to look for hope in places other than Jesus Christ.
Biblical counselors* have the privilege of meeting you where you are and walking alongside you, helping you to remain faithful to God, who is always faithful to you. A biblical counselor is a compassionate guide ready to encourage and equip you through the Word of God as you find your ultimate hope in His steadfast love for you.
At Deeply Rooted we align with the distinctives of the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF). An abbreviated version of these distinctives can be viewed here. Please visit the CCEF website for the distinctives in their entirety.
*Biblical counseling is a means of spiritual formation, caring for the embodied soul. It is not licensed mental health counseling.

Anne-Marie Fort, MA
Biblical Counselor
Through God's grace, Anne-Marie Fort has experienced a deepening relationship with the Lord for over 30 years. After over a decade working in local government and organizational consulting, God called Anne-Marie into vocational ministry. Following 7 years on a local church staff, God led Anne-Marie to fulfill her part in the Body of Christ through biblical counseling and launching Deeply Rooted Ministries. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in 2025.
Anne-Marie's desire as a biblical counselor is to help people experience healing and walk faithfully through suffering, with the ultimate goal of discovering their unique place of service in the Body of Christ. She believes each person is made for a purpose and desires to help them become fully-formed, spiritually-mature, worshipers of God; experiencing the joy of living a life fully surrendered to Him, trusting in His perfect protection and provision. Anne-Marie seeks to encourage individuals to lay off every sin that entangles so that they can live a life of faithful obedience, pursuing holiness and conformity to Christ and resting in His abundant joy.
Areas of Focus: Spiritual formation; general feelings of anxiousness, fear, depression; grief and suffering; bitterness and unforgiveness; work/life integration and burnout; relationship with God and others; knowing and trusting God.

We are all being formed by something - the news of the day, culture, thoughts and opinions of others, pressures and demands of work and activities, our own preferences. All the things we read and listen to each day shape our thoughts, and overtime, our thoughts shape our behaviors. These thoughts and behaviors are either leading us into a closer relationship with God or a more distant relationship with God.
As followers of Christ we are called not to conform to the ways of the world but to the ways of The Word (Romans 12:2). We are Kingdom People seeking to be like our Savior, King Jesus, following in His thoughts and His ways. It is wise for us to be intentional in what we read and listen to, what we knowingly and unknowingly give our time and attention to. May we choose to be formed by words that are rooted in the truth of Scripture, rather than the world around us. Day by day, through our intentional choices and the gracious work of the Holy Spirit, we look forward to joyfully becoming more and more like our Lord and Friend, Jesus Christ, thinking his thoughts and walking in his ways.
