Details

This in-person, 8-week study will work through the book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Pete Scazzero.

Through his Spirit Jesus Christ desires to have a personal relationship with us. However, life and all of its distractions often keeps us from building this relationship. Without a growing, dynamic, personal relationship with Jesus our Christian life grows stale and we may no longer find ourselves living for Christ but wrapped up in the cares of the world around us.

Through our 8-weeks together you'll develop your own transformative road map for discipleship with Jesus. Among other topics, we will look at how to identify emotionally unhealthy spirituality, how to grow your soul through grief and loss, and how to develop into an emotionally mature adult. This study will be especially helpful if you find yourself stuck in any of these behaviors:

  • avoiding healthy conflict in the name of keeping the peace

  • ignoring and/or suppressing emotions

  • using work for God as an excuse to run from God

  • living without limits

Jesus died so that you could live an abundant life, rich with intimacy with your Father and love for your neighbor. Unless you slow and quiet your life down for a first-hand relationship with Jesus Christ, little change is possible.

This study includes a book, workbook, and daily devotional. You are encouraged to purchase all three. To support the work of the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality ministry, books can be purchased directly from their website here.

The group will meet each Tuesday from Janauary 16 through March 5.  The second part of the Emotionally Healthy Discipleship course, Emotionally Healthy Relationships, will run from March 19 through May 7. Each study is separate, so participation in one does not require participation in the other however, the two groups do build on one another.
